Why Quality Products are Important for Creativity
Every artist deserves great supplies. Consider a musician playing a box strung with rubber bands versus a cello. Or a ballerina performing in sneakers verses pointe shoes. Similarly, artists need artist-quality materials and tools in order to create something worthy of our other precious commodities: time, energy and talent.
There’s a time and place for tempera paints, Elmer’s glue and oatmeal boxes, but it’s not at Yucandu Art Studio! When you explore your creative side at Yucandu, you can feel like a true artist because we are dedicated to always providing only the highest quality, artist-grade products. Here’s what we mean by that.
Acid-Free, Always
Cheap glues and papers not marked “acid-free” can cause issues with your projects down the road. Over time, these materials will deteriorate, yellow or crack, which can lead to a disintegration of the project you worked so hard to complete!
We here at Yucandu LOVE Weldbond glue for paper, glass, wood, mosaics, cement and more. When decoupaging paper, it’s a better choice than Mod Podge, which is NOT acid-free. Weldbond does not yellow over time; and it strengthens with age, which is especially awesome when working with wood. We use a variety of other glues depending on what we’re working with like metal, jewelry, or outdoor mosaics. In fact, during training, our staff learns, practices and memorizes about ten different glues to use in different situations.
The bottom line is that our papers and adhesives are always acid-free, which means that they will strengthen, not weaken, with age, leaving you with a lasting piece of art.
Giving Children an Appreciation for Art
This is not limited to adults, of course. Kids who LOVE art and crave a wide selection of great materials will…well, let’s just say, you can actually see their eyes light up and even their mouths fall open when they come into the studio for their first time. Giving them the opportunity to create with artist-quality materials gives them an appreciation for the craft and allows them to explore and enhance their creativity.
Enabling a True Artistic Experience
Anyone can pick up poster paint or cardboard stock from Wal-Mart and craft at their kitchen table (and that’s fun too!). But ultimately the artistic experience stops there. Rather, when you indulge your creativity at Yucandu, you’ll indulge it as an artist would, letting your inspiration lead you wherever it may go with products that will ensure that your work will last for years. When you use cheap glues, papers and other supplies, be careful not to spent a lot of time or energy on your projects—they simply won’t stand the test of time. We believe that your creativity deserves better than that.
