What should we do with this extra cement?

Well…living in Webster Groves means that we have lots of trees in our yards, which means plenty of Hostas too! Hosta leaves are so perfect for casting cement leaves, so it was no contest what to do for one of our Try It Tuesday projects this summer.  Holly and I have made several of these over the years and still LOVE them.  Holly uses one on her counter to hold handmade bars of soap.  I have one sitting pretty on a table in my screened in porch.
They’re easy, fun and inexpensive.  If you want it to hang, add a non-rusting wire loop to the back while you’re casting it.  They’re only $12 to make (which includes studio fees) and take about 20 minutes.

In July and August the Try It Tuesday project will be Mosaic stepping stones, where you will create a mosaic design and pour cement for a reverse mosaic technique.  $40 for a small and $55 for a large (studio fee included!).
