Everyone is Creative…Even You!

Everyone is creative. “But not me!” you may say. “I don’t have a creative bone in my body!” That’s a lie, friends. Every single person on this planet is creative. To say otherwise is to do a grand disservice to the creativity that lies within each and every one of us. How do I know that? Having operated an art studio for over a decade, I know a thing or two about the creative capabilities of even the most self-proclaimed non-creatives. Here’s why everyone is creative:

1. God is the Creator & We’re All Created in His Image

Take a look at the world around you. It’s a beautifully complex place that reflects the unfathomable imagination of an omniscient Creator who brought it all into being. As humans, we are created in the image and likeness of our Father in heaven. Therefore, we all have the ability to create and be creative. Even if you don’t buy this argument completely, it’s hard to deny man’s potential for creativity. It’s all a matter of acknowledging the possibility for what you can do if you give yourself the chance to embrace your own imagination.

2. There’s a Difference Between Skills & Creativity

Who you think of as being an artist is generally a person who has spent many, many years developing any abilities he or she naturally has. They went to art school. They spent time in apprenticeships. They studied. They practiced. That is, they developed skills. There is a difference between having the skills necessary to be an artist and simply being creative. Some people are indeed naturally artistic and have an easier time expressing that. Others (and that may be you) just need to develop the skills necessary to properly vent that creativity.

Chances are, you are creative in your daily life and don’t even realize it. The very act of problem-solving, whereby you produce a solution or answer to a problem, can be considered creative. Any time you produce something that is wholly your own, whether it is cooking, telling a story to a friend, or even folding laundry, you’re being creative. The trick is to see them as acts of creation. Once you’ve done that, you can continue to learn and grow in your creativity. This is why we’re here.

3. You’ve Been Told That You’re Not & You Believe It

All people are drawn to beauty. It’s engrained into our humanity to be in awe of beauty when we encounter it. I know this because I’ve encountered so many people who, upon entering Yucandu Art Studio, are drawn to our artistic environment. They light up at the endless possibilities before them…but they hesitate to fully embrace it once faced with actually being creative. Why? I think it’s because they’ve been told, either by someone else or themselves, that they are not creative. So they start believing it, refusing to see themselves as creative and thereby forever putting the kibosh on any chance of actually trying to be creative. If you can identify with this, see #1.

Friends, you are creative. If you think you’re not, it’s because you’ve never been given the opportunity to fully explore what you’re capable of. We set up our store with you in mind. We keep it streamlined so you don’t become overwhelmed. We teach.

We’ll help you find your creativity, step by step. With the right glue, the right paper, and the right steps, we’ll help you find what you’ve been denying yourself. No matter how hesitant you are, come embrace your inner artist at Yucandu. We’ll be your encouragement, even when you can’t believe it yourself!
